Hi,

I was wondering if it was possible to use the "www" directory like how "htdocs" was used in XAMPP and MAMP.
I already have copies of Joomla and Wordpress files that I want to simply drop into a directory like "htdocs" so I can work on the sites right away, instead of doing another round of downloads of the same scripts again.
I work offline for most of the part and find the use of local web servers quite helpful. Hence my query.

Cheers

Hi,

Sorry. Apparently you can't change the "www" (DocumentRoot) directory. But you can create a alias or domain from Enduser Panel easily, where you can just specify the path you want.

So does that mean I can copy a 'joomla' folder into the "www" directory and have joomla up and running?

Hi,

Yes. Make sure you import the database too.

Hello Sirs,
sorry if I repeat quite the same question, but I didn't understand:

I am a Mac user, and I'm running locally a WordPress blog on MAMP vers. 1.9.6.

Now, I'd want to obtain 2 results:

1. to move the wordpress file folder directory (MAMP > htdocs > wordpress ) under the AMPPS control.
So, where should I "drag and drop", or move (and how ? with which commands from the AMPPS panel ?) my MAMP Wordpress directory under AMPPS ?

2. I'd want to transform it into a "MultiSite WP" system management.
Should I make any "trick" on the panel to let it be that way ? (without being forced to reinstall WP from scratch and re-do the whole site work again)

(Hope you can help a newbie.)

thank You ! Best regards

MAMP -> htdocs is equivalent to AMPPS -> www, you can put the site folder in it.

And you will have to export the database from MAMP and import it to AMPPS to make your site work. You can do that using phpmyadmin.

I did not get exactly what you are trying to say. I am guessing you want to transform your current wordpress site to multisite wordpress. If that is the thing you want, its not possible from ampps. i.e the conversion is not possible. You can install new multisite wordpress easily though.

Hello Sir,
thank You for the clear reply !

About point 2: yes, I'd like to "transform my current WP site to multisite WP".

Please, one last question about it:

I re-installed a fresh new "WP Multisite" on AMPPS.

If now I transfer the Database from MAMP to AMPPS that won't work ? That won't transfer my old site into the mulitisite structure ? Even if I transfer the file directories by hand, one by one ?

Best Regards

My need is similar to FimFab...
I simply want to move a site into ampps to use it as my development environment.
I copied my site files into my site name directory under their www directory.  and moved my db into their MySQL, changing it and the wp_config file.  I get no errors but Instead of my site, it runs some demo site using a DejaVu template, whose only option seems to be to buy a template and start building a new site.

It seems my original move of my site files to that directory were deleted during the process and replaced by this 'demo' site.  I saved those off for reference and deleted them so I could again copy in my site files.

I can't seem to figure out what is happening
Please help me get my site running instead of their demo.  It seems very odd.

thanks.
